Sporting Achievements 2021-2022


KS1 Athletics Event - July 2022

On Thursday 14th July, a group of Year 2s represented our school at the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Fun Athletics Event held at Wilson’s Playing Fields. The children took part in 8 different events such as target throw, long jump and 50m sprint. We are very proud of their efforts and achievements; they were excellent ambassadors for our school, demonstrating determination, teamwork and empathy.

Football League Match (5) June 2022

On Monday 20th June, eight Year 6 children went to the 3G near Roefield in Clitheroe and took part in another set of league matches to help our final position in the league. Our first match was against Balderstone which we drew 0-0. Our next match was against Waddington B and we lost this match 3-0. Our next match was against St Josephs which we won 2-1. Following these 3 matches, we had an opportunity to rest nd find some shade from the sun. 
Our final 2 matches were against Balderston and St Leonards where we drew one and won one 1-0. 

The team played extremely well as a team, supporting each other and working hard to maintain possession troughout every game. Well done.

KS2 Sports Day 2022

On Friday 10th June, all of our KS2 children took part in Sports day. Every child took part in an obstacle race, a novelty race and a 60m sprint earning points for their team. The morning concluded with a relay race, girls and boys,  with each team racing against each other, desperately earning the final points towards their teams total. 

The wining team was yellow team with 158 points. 
Well done to yellow team.



Football League Match (4) May 2022

On Monday 16th May, eight Year 6 children went to the 3G near Roefield in Clitheroe and took part in another set of league matches to help our final position in the league. Our first match was against Waddington and West Bradford which we won 1-0. Our next match was against St Joseph's, Hurst Green and we won this match too 1-0. Our next match was against Balderstone which we had to abandon due to thunder and lightning!


All in all, the children were a real credit to the school and played with great spirit. Well done. 

KS1 Intra-school Orienteering Competition

In May, the Year 6 Sports Leaders led an intra-school competition with all the Infant classes. 
Firstly, the set out the orienteering course and went to each class in turn, handing out maps and control cards for the children to fill out. Once they had been to every control, the children had to unjumble the letters to spell a name of a bird. 
Each class had a winning pair. 
The Year 6 leaders were amazing, leading the event and supportng the children whilst they completed the course.  



Inclusive Event May 2022


On Friday 6th May, a five children from our school attended an inclusive event at Oakhill College which encouraged participationin in a range of different activities. The events were all adapted to meet the needs of the children. 
The children attending all had a great deal of fun. 

World Games March 2022

For the past three weeks, Sycamore Class have taken part in a game which led them to think about running the the world. They were each given a node (governance, energy, food, trade..) and a number of situations that they had to overcome together. This culminated in joining with the Year 6 children from Waddington and West Bradford School who were also completing the same activity.

Thank you to Roger Duck who came into school and led this event. 

Girls Football Day

Wednesday 9th March 

Sam and Scarlett organised a girls football event in partnership with England football and Barclays to promote girls playing football #letgirlsplay. The aim was to get as many girls as possible involved in football on one day.

A big thank you to Sam, Scarlett Brunning and the Y6 Sports Crew who made today possible.

LKS2 GYMNASTICS COMPETITION
February 2022

On Monday 7th February, eight Year 4 children represented the school in a gymnastics competition where they had to perform a floor routine and vault. After much practice at school, they all performed wonderfully without any assistance remembering the routine. Team A came 4th and Team B came 5th.

Well done to school who participated.

Dance Festival - January 2022

These group of 10 Year 2 children were a delight to take to the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley School Sports Partnership Dance Festival held at St.Augustine’s High School. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and showed some super dance moves!

Athletics - January 2022

Well done to the Year 6 Sportshall Athletics team for competing against other local schools in various athletics events and came second. Great determination shown by all.  

Girls Football - January 2022

Well done to the girls for representing the HRVSSP at the Lancashire Finals. An amazing achievement.

Kurling - December 2021

🥌🎯It was lovely to take these well behaved Year 2’s to represent our school at the Kurling Competition held at Hyndburn Academy! They were superstars and came 2nd!! 🎯🥌
